through inability to procure these materials. The value of these will be found credited in the accounts now forwarded. I regret that part of this cargo, namely

56 bundles of fishplates, was stolen during the month of September, 1919. A sum of $642.60 has been credited to the Imperial Government on this account.

I enclose for convenience a supplementary

statement of the accounts drawn up in another form, showing separately the different amounts which have been paid to the various firms and Government Departments who have been concern- -ed,together with a statement of the cargo still stored in

Hongkong.

7.

I have to request that the balance of $18,091.75 show in enclosure 2 may be credited to this Government in the usual manner and I would point out that until this material is disposed of storage charges amounting to approximately 8933 are recurring monthly during the current

year.
